FAQ: MZM - Midnight Zombie Marathon
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

I own a game shop. Are you offering MZM for wholesale purchasing?

Yes, we are offering wholesale pricing! If you are a store owner or other retailer who wishes to carry Midnight Zombie Marathon as part of your stock, please contact Team MZM directly to discuss preorders and pricing. We can be reached by email at [email protected] or through our Kickstarter campaign.

10 games isn’t enough! I’m not a retailer but have a huge family of zombie lovers. What can I do?

If you require more games than our “Brains for the Whole Horde” MZM 10 pack, please contact Team MZM directly to discuss possible options for bulk pricing. We can be reached by email at [email protected] or through our Kickstarter campaign.

I live outside the US. Can I still get the game?

Yes! There has been a lot more interest than we anticipated from international backers. We have nailed down the most affordable way to get full copies of MZM to all of our fans, wherever you may be. Our shipping will be handled by a company that is capable of fulfillment worldwide, customs-savvy, and fully EU compliant.

What is the “Big Bite of Brains” custom art reward all about?

For an $80 pledge, backers will receive everything in the “Brains for Brains” tier (one full copy of the game, including all cards unlocked by stretch goals during the Kickstarter), plus our artist’s rendering of you or a friend as an MZM style zombie. This opportunity is a special Kickstarter and presale exclusive. You will receive your custom art reward as a high resolution digital file for your unlimited use in print or online.

What is the difference between the two prototype reward tiers? Can I get both decks?

In our “Show Us Your Brains” reward tiers, you can choose to receive a full printed prototype deck of either the MZM strategy expansion OR our newest mini-game starring Earl. While we would love to provide everyone with both decks, our team has a rigorous testing process, and it is important for us to keep our two test groups as separate as possible for data collection purposes. If you’re having a hard time deciding which option is for you, look at the next FAQs for further information.

What is the MZM strategy expansion? Can I have more details?

The MZM expansion deck is designed to add a layer of strategy to the original game. MZM will be playable with our traditional single and multi-player modes using the single deck, or can be made more challenging by adding the assets, additional rules, and advantages offered by the expansion deck.

In the expansion you will: Gain additional cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes so you can help out (or take out) your friends… Get new tools to do more than run and finally really fight back against the zombie horde… Find new weapons, abilities, and even extra uses for those gas cans and food boxes… And learn the true power of a squirrel on a stick!

What is the new mini-game going to be about? How will it play?

There are more troubles in the world than just zombies. In Earl’s new adventure, Foil Me Not, find out what it takes to discover and beat some nefarious alien invaders. Grab your roll of tin foil and start making hats to pass out to your friends that you trust. Can you find the hidden tourists from outer space? Or are you gonna get probed?

In the world of Foil Me Not, aliens have invaded a small diner, and it is your job to figure out who they are. Be one of 6 possible characters as you try to lie your way to victory. Hand out a foil hat on your turn as you try to save (or take over) humankind. Use your powers of deception (and the power of hats) to ferret out all the aliens or conceal yourself among those pesky humans.

Be a human or an alien, but either way, you’d better be the last one standing.

Why are the new prototypes available as individual preorders and not as add-ons?

Due to our testing process and data collection needs, we have to limit prototype sales to one per order. This ensures that tracking of individuals and groups doing our playtests will go smoothly and provide us with the clearest information on how to improve the games in the next stages of development and refinement.

Why are the prototypes so much more expensive than the MZM decks?

Good question! In the interest of transparency, here is a breakdown explaining our costs:

Printing prototypes is vastly more expensive than the per unit cost of a full production run. Ordering anything under about 500 units inflates the cost per deck to 5-10 times the cost when printing at a large volume. Out of the $60 for either prototype tier, the majority of the funds beyond the standard $15 for the MZM deck will go to printing and shipping.

We have done our best to find the most affordable options for each of these factors, of course, and we want as many people as possible to have the chance to test the new expansion and the mini-game. Ultimately, this was the absolute lowest cost at which we could offer this unique opportunity to be a part of our design process.

Current Estimated Shipping Date: October 2015

Currently, Team MZM is in the survey and presale phase. Prompt replies to our survey are essential to staying on target for our production and shipping dates. BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
